Shooting Star

You did a great job on the challenge this week! We have selected your layout as our feature "Shooting Star", and it will be featured in our gallery and in our newsletter! Thanks so much for playing along, and congratulations!

This is an email that I received today from Susan at Papercraft Planet. The layout she is talking about is the Mariko One that you can find right her on the blog. I must say I am totaly excited and thrilled. I will of course be doing a few more challenges and getting back into the swing of things. If you haven't visited Papercraft Planet, please do, its a wonderful place for inspriration, ideas and techniques. I love some of the groups and the things that some of these crafters can do is amazing!! I can see that card making is huge, and you tend to see more of that than the actual scrapbooks, but they are much easier to make......I hope you all have a great day, and that you challenge yourself in some little way today.....

Happy Monday

The week end seem to just fly by, but then when your better half is working 6 days a week and there is only one day off, it does go by pretty fast. I worked on some cards this week end using some of my neglected die cuts, and I really forgot how fun they were to use. The samples are made for items we are selling in our online store and in our ebay store (the links are on my banner) and of course I am using some of the online challenges to find my layouts for them. The card I am posting below is for a challenge on papercraft planet, and I have to say I love that site for inspiration and new ideas. I am also busy working on Page kits that will be for sale in our store. This was always one of my favorite things to do when I had my brick and mortar store, and I am finding that I still like it just as much. I will be keeping the originals for my own pages and getting some of my scrapbooking done along the way... now that's what I call multi tasking.
I hope you all have a good start to your week, and that no matter what the weather is like in your area, that you find a little bit of sunshine to share with others that could use a bright spot in their day.

Digital Die Cuts

Ok, I have owned the Quickutz Silhouette for a long time and the poor thing has been dusted more than It has been used.  I figured I should probably try it again and see if I really would use it or if it needed to go to the auction block on ebay. I openend the program and went in to take a look at their online store since I still had some credit on my download card..well, I took a look at all the new things they have added and felt myself go dizzy trying to decide which designs I needed, do I choose the flowers, the holiday items, the animals, the frames ...oh dear ..I could see that at $1.99 each my credit was not going to last very long...Then I saw it...
A ONE YEAR UNLIMITED DOWNLOAD SUBSCRIPTION FOR HALF PRICE!!!!!
Than means that instead of $29.99 a month, I could get all the downloads I wanted for just $14.99 a month. Dan was sleeping on the couch, still recovering from his injured back, so I nabbed his wallet and got his debit card and I DID IT!!!
(Dan is aware of my purchase and didn't mind at all)
Ok, now, it only took me 2 hours to find all of the existing designs that I wanted and when I was done adding them all to my shopping cart the price I would have paid would have been over $380......Now that to me is a good day shopping when I can get that and more for my $15  monthly subscription......and I didn't even have to leave the house.
Ok now that I have a library full of digital die cuts I should probably think about using them right? I decided  my mission for today was to do just that. I found a couple of their print and cut designs, which are so cool cuz you send the image to your printer, then when it is done printing, you put it into the silhouette and it cuts the image out too!! No messing with different colored papers, just plain old white and wham bam, you have a colored die cut!! I am so impressed that I think I will have to go back into the store and download a few more of these. Did I mention I loved Shopping?
Well, I did manage to make a couple of things and they are pretty cute if I may say so myself.

This is also for the Belli Challenge #76
Autumn Leaves

So, I will keep this little gem, and I will be visiting the online store the first of each week (they add new designs every week) adding to my digital library.
I Hope you all have a great week end, and that you discover a wonderful use for something that has been collecting dust in your home or life this coming week.

Scrappy Sunday Challenge

I have joined this wonderful site called Papercraft Planet, and one of the groups I have joined is called Scrappy Sunday. They Post a new sketch each sunday and you just do a layout following the sketch. This is a huge challenge for me to do as I am not one that can scraplift with ease.. So I played along and this is the result.. The top one is the sketch and the bottom one is my take on it. The pattern paper is from Chatterbox, Cardstock is Bazzil, Edge Punch if from Martha Stewart and the flowers, bird and Alphabet diecuts are all from Quickutz. I think I follows the sketch fairly well, other than the fact that my scrapping area is larger, and the picture is going in the opposite direction. Have you ever followed a sketch? How did you do?
I will of course continue to do these as I love the challenge and it gives me all new ideas and pushes my scrappy brain to think outside of my box. I hope each of you are having a good week, and that you acomplish something that you have been putting off for another day. Toodles

Holiday Ideas

This card was created using the quickutz fall die set.

As The Holidays aproch we start getting excited for all the wonderful events that will put us together with our loved ones. We create cards to send to those who are not near to us, and then we start to create our handmade gifts for Christmas. I have several gifts that I would like to make and this year I am determined that the only gifts that others(besides the hubbie and grandkids of course) will be hand made. I Love doing mini books, recipe boxes, address books (which I do sell in my etsy shop) decorated picture frames and so much more. What are you planning on creating for the holidays? Please feel free to share with us any ideas that you have. We would love to see your stuff!!
I hope you all get the chance to relax today and that your week is filled with love and laugher

Working On Page Layouts

I have started working on double page layout kits for our web store and I forgot how much I loved doing this when I had the store. I have a few ideas as to the content of the pages I would like to make and the first one is called I Love this face. I know how many random pictures I have of my kids when they were little and they don't all fit into a theme or a full page but put them all together in this kind of layout and they simply work. I was going to go with the title of The Many Faces Of...but that has been used so many times so I did something a tad bit different. I would love input as to what other kind of layouts would be helpful when your scrapping so let me know if you have any ideas. The page kits will soon be available at www.scrapadabadoo.com.

Here Comes The Rain

Well the rain has arrived in Washington and it sounds like it may be here for a little while. I love a nice rainy day where you can get out your scrapbooking supplies and create with out guilt that you should be outside in the yard getting some things done. I do still need to cut back a few plants that are finished up for the year so I hope we do get some dry days back soon.
I have found a wonderful site that I have been getting a ton of inspiration from www.paperplanet.com They have a ton of groups you can join and most everyone there has a blog that you can get ideas from too. I am amazed at the talent that some of these people have and the way they are willing to share their wisdome with others. Check them out and join a group that fits your interest.
Have a great Hump day and remember that the Rain is simply liquid sunshine.

Friday For Sure

Gosh where did this week go? I had all these things that I wanted to get done, and hardly anything is scratched off my list. I did want to get the instructions for the Mini File Folders posted, and as you can see that didn't happen. I will work on getting it up before the week-end is over and I hope you will try these as they are easy to make and are a cute gift for a co-worker, parent or just anyone you love. I got a couple of goodie boxes from my friend Barrie at Scrapadabaddo.com and I was so excited with all the things she sent that I think I just had too much fun playing to actually get serious. We are really trying to get going on some page kits, mini album kits and just some fun crafting kits. It's slow going at first but I think once we get all our ducks in a row it will be fabulous!!!
Anyway Fridays are always fun and I hope you find some wonderful fun things to fill your day with. Take some time today to share a smile with someone who may not have one and could use yours!!

Good Monday Morning

The week-end was so beautiful here. Not as warm as our summer days have been but here in Washington we could be drenched in the rain, but instead we have sunshine!!!
I try to do my baking for the week on Sundays, and yesterday started out to be one of those not so good baking days. I really wanted to make some cinnamon rolls, and unfortunatly I really screwed up when adding the ingredients. I thought I was using my one cup measuring cup when I added the water(2 1/2 cups) but when I finished adding the flour the dough just didn't seem soft enough, and sure enough I had used the 3/4 cup to measure the water... well I tried to add the water that was lacking, and what I ended up with was a slimy ball of dough that of course was not going to be useable....And of course I did't have enough yeast to do another batch, so I ended up finding a great recipe for Oatmeal Cranberry Cookies:

2 cubes Butter Softened
2 1/4 cups Brown Sugar Packed
2 eggs
2 Tsp Vanilla
2 TBSP Milk
Mix together and then add
3 cups quick Oats
3 cups flour
1 TBSP Baking Powder
1 1/2 Tsp Baking Soda
1 Tsp Salt
Stir In 1 1/2 cups cranberries

Bake @ 375 degrees for 10-12 Min. You may need to coat your cookie sheets with pam...

They turned out so good and I will try to do the cinnamon rolls later

So With that I hope you all have a good start to your week and that laugher is mixed with blessings in what ever you do this week.

Happy Friday

Welcome fall to the beautiful Pacific Northwest. The leaves are starting to change colors and that to me is a sight to behold. We love to take a drive this time of year just to enjoy the beauty of the changing landscape. Fall is a great time of year to start planning your projects for the upcoming holiday season. What gifts do you need to finish up or get started? Are you hosting any of your family gatherings and what kinds of things would make those gatherings more festive? There are so many wonderful things that you can make to give away, decorations that will make you smile, and I will be posting some great ideas to my blog starting next week.
I hope you all have a wonderful week end, and that you find your blessings in all the big and little things that life has to offer
